40 years ago, before the internet and cell phones, we all could manage all of our contacts easily in a simple address book. Most of us had an average of 25 people to manage. Most sales people back in the day had an average of 100 people in their address books. Bottom line, it was relatively easy to keep track of and keep up with all of our contacts.
Not anymore.
Today, thanks to the uber connectedness of the internet, and social media, we now have an average of 500 people in our "address books"--most of whom we barely talk to in any given year. Even worse: when you add up all the contacts in our phones, social media, and email inboxes, the busiest among us have an average of over 3000 contacts. Whoah!
How can you easily stay in touch with this many people using traditional methods? Answer: you can't. It is virtually impossible given the way we currently manage our contacts.
Add to this the concept of Dunbar's Number, which states that humans can maintain only 150 relationships. Of those, only 5 of which can ever be deemed 'close'.
Assuming that Dunbar's Number is true, what most people don't realize is that those 150 primary relationships change constantly. New people enter your life and business. Others leave. Traditional contact management software simply doesn't track this. Nor does it help you keep your most important people at the top of your relationship pyramid.
Enter Contact Points. A new type of contact management software. Software that not only allows you easily determine who make up your Dunbar 150, but also helps you to update them automatically. Moreover, due to the nature of the software, you will be able to keep up with far more relationships than just your Dunbar 150, in a way you never could before. Without even thinking about it.
Most contact management software focuses simply on when you last contacted someone, or based on when you think you should contact that person next. But that's not so important. What matters most is the quality of each of your interactions with your contacts.
How to track quality of interactions? We do so for you via points. Every interaction logged assigns a point value based on many different variables that measure the quality of the interaction. For example, if you send a written postcard to someone, that's a lot more meaningful than sending a text message. Why? It takes more effort and time, so will be received with more impact.
The more you use Contact Points, the more easily the science-based algorithm tells you who you should be contacting next to keep your relationships strong. Just log your contacts regularly, check your dashboard every day or few days, do what it says, and voila! You'll never again say to a contact, "Oh my gosh, has it really been that long since we've talked!"
Give Contact Points a try for free. When you realize that this is the way to ensure you never again lose contact with those who matter most, it's just $8/month to unlock unlimited contacts, and unlimited interactions.
